Designer Slipcovers

I named these slipcovers "Designer Slipcovers" as they were commisioned by my friend designer Merri Karp for her client.  I have mentioned her on a past blog post here.  She chose this pretty white tone on tone fabric which washed beautifully.  I pre-washed the fabric in Hot water and then into the dryer on the Hot setting to remove the maximum shrinkage before construction of the slipcover.  I also serge all the seams to prevent raveling in future washings.  The customer will be able to wash the slipcovers in her home washing machine. These slipcovers did require a zipper in the back side seams for easy removal.

The chair had many curves and the slipcover hugs the curves nicely.

Chair and Ottoman Slipcover

I really like the clean look of the slipcover with no skirt.  My customer preferred this look since the chair and ottoman would be in her husband's office.  The fabric used is a pre-washed solid twill.

I pre-wash all fabrics in HOT water and dry on a HOT setting to remove initial shrinkage and I serge all seams to prevent raveling in future washings.

Coffee Sack Slipcover

 Burlap slipcovers?
Yes! You can add a burlap coffee sack to your slipcover. Pinterest is loaded with ideas on using burlap coffee sacks. Everything was pre-washed- burlap, coffee sack and the solid cotton fabric.  There are many helpful links on-line on how to pre-wash and sew burlap and burlap coffee sacks. Here is a great blog post- www.ellaclaireinspired.com .  This slipcover will need to be dry clean only.
All burlap and coffee sack pieces were lined with a cotton muslin.

Every part of the chair that would touch your skin is covered in the soft cotton fabric.

The customer did not want to use cording so everything was top stitched.

These are a couple of coffee sack slipcovers I found on Pinterest.  These are both made of a softer fabric than the one I used.

Racing Stripe Slipcover

This chair was definitely a challenge because of three things. The wood trim, curved back and attached seat cushion. I was unable to pre-wash the racing stripe fabric because of fear of fading the printed racing stripe. This chair will need to be dry cleaned. The fabric is Bark Racing Stripe from Serena and Lily. The solid white on the rest of the chair is an organic cotton canvas. There are two of these slipcovered chairs going to my customers lake cottage. My customer will be sending me pictures of both chairs slipcovered in the cottage, Regretfully she will not be able to take the pictures for a while because of construction. These pictures were taken in my workroom.

The chair is the Catania chair from Arhaus furniture.

My customer purchased a Bark racing stripe pillow.
This chair from Serena and Lily was the inspiration for the slipcover.

Rock-a-bye Baby

A fresh new slipcover to soothe the mom while she rocks her baby to sleep. I pre-washed this brushed denim fabric in HOT water, and dried with a HOT setting to induce maximum shrinkage before constructing the slipcover. This slipcover was constructed a little looser anticipating that it may need frequent washing, and I recommended that she spray protect the fabric to prepare for the new baby.
