From Pillows to Boxed Cushions

My customer was tired of fluffing pillows and constantly having to arrange the pillows on the back of her sofa.  I made a template for boxed cushions and placed an order for feather/down blend inserts.  Wow!  What a difference.  The current seat cushions are all down/feather- no foam and my customer is now interested in ordering new down seat cushion inserts to match the fluffiness of her new back cushions. We also shortened the skirt to show a little leg and to give a lighter feel to this large sofa.
I love the beachy look the pillows add. I am also in love with her picture gallery over the sofa. I want to copy this look in my house.
Here is a look at the before picture in a brown velvet slipcover with the pillow back.

Here is a closeup of the fabric. I pre-wash all fabrics in HOT water and dry on a HOT setting to remove the maximum shrinkage and I serge all seams to prevent raveling in future washings.
I am now working on two of these wing back chairs for this same customer. The same fabric will be used and we are going to do a fun skirt.  Stay tuned for the after pictures.

Lola Loves Ruffles

Let me introduce you to my customer's adorable puppy, "Lola".  Lola loves her new slipcover with flowing ruffles.  Lola's owner loves the shabby chic style of slipcovers with ample ruffles, slightly baggy fit, and draping skirts. I enjoyed creating this slipcover with the mix of linen and ruffles giving that classic shabby chic style.

A closeup of the 100% cotton linen look fabric.

Here is a side view showing the use of ruffles instead of cording under the arm.
Here is the inspiration photo from the Chez Fifi Blog: August 2010
This slipcover is by Susie and Mark Holt owners of Posh on Palm. I would love to visit their new store location in beautiful Downtown Sarasota in a Grand Hotel one block off the Bayfront at 33 South Palm Ave. Sarasota, Fl.

Back view of inspiration photo. Susie Holt loves to add lace to her slipcovers. I love this style and have added the Posh on Palm blog to my bloglist.

My customer wanted her chair to resemble the beautifully unique style of the Posh on Palm chair by using a mattelasse fabric for the arm fronts and boxing around the ottoman.

Here is a little footstool in same fabric and ruffles...Too cute!

New Office Chair Slipcovers

Here are a couple of the office chairs slipcovers I finished recently. You do not need to be in my local area to have a custom office chair slipcover. I offer the office chair slipcovers to long distance customers from measurements. All I need is a picture of your chair. I have created slipcovers for customers throughout the U.S.A. and I have even created one for a customer as far as Australia.

This first slipcover shown is for a customer in Florida. She chose an Amy Butler fabric- Sketchbook Roses. I found the contrast fabric at a local fabric shop. She chose to cover the arms in the matching fabric.

Here is the before picture of the naked chair.

This next office chair slipcover is for a customer in Pennsylvania. She chose two fabrics from Greenhouse Fabrics

I love the interesting back closure she chose- Button closure with twist ties in back.
