Dining Room Transformation

My customer has a beautiful dining room set but she was not loving all the dark wood. She wanted to lighten the room up with linen slipcovers. She loves the look of Belgium linen from Restoration Hardware. This beautiful linen/cotton blend in a natural linen color closely resembles the Belgium linen at a lower cost. There were a total of 8 chairs, 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs. This dining room transformation was timed perfectly just in time for Thanksgiving.
Before picture of dining room.

After picture with the slipcovers.

Here is a picture of the back of one of the dining room chairs. I followed the detailed shape of the beautiful carved wood.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I have one more slipcover to deliver before Thanksgiving.

  1. Hi Tessy, Great job!How did you approach the slipcovers? Did you make a pattern then sew the side chairs? Just wondering how you go about doing
    multiples in a efficient way.

  2. Thanks CJ! I made a pattern for side chairs IB and OB and then another pattern for arm chairs because they were slighter larger. Wood chairs are difficult to sew for since you cannot pin into wood. Very time consuming. Especially the arm chairs with all the cut outs.

  4. Looks really great! What a transformation! Are these lined to hide the darkness of what is under them?

    1. Thanks Colleen! The slipcovers did not need to be lined.
