Dining Room Transformation

My customer has a beautiful dining room set but she was not loving all the dark wood. She wanted to lighten the room up with linen slipcovers. She loves the look of Belgium linen from Restoration Hardware. This beautiful linen/cotton blend in a natural linen color closely resembles the Belgium linen at a lower cost. There were a total of 8 chairs, 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs. This dining room transformation was timed perfectly just in time for Thanksgiving.

Here is a picture of the back of one of the dining room chairs. I followed the detailed shape of the beautiful carved wood.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I have one more slipcover to deliver before Thanksgiving.

Pink Damask Office Chair Slipcover

I have been making a lot of office chair slipcovers lately.  Here are some great pictures my customer just sent of the slipcover on her chair.  She chose a pretty pink damask for the main fabric and a white with pink polka dots for the contrast fabric.
She wanted a long ruffled skirt to wrap around the back of the chair to hide all the unsightly mechanisms under the chair. We finished the chair off with ties down the back.  This slipcover is so pretty and will brighten my clients sewing/craft room.

This slipcover was done long distance from measurements. The client sent me a picture of her chair and I used her picture to ask for the needed measurements.

Chaise Slipcover for Foxy

Chris Roblin of Chris Roblin Design contacted me to make this slipcover for her clients dog "Foxy". Foxy is a cute silver lab that loves to sleep in a chaise in her master's bedroom.  I knew the customer wanted to wash the slipcover often so I offered to make a pet cover for the cushion for easy removal for washing.  The pet cover is much easier to remove and replace than the large chaise seat cushion cover.  The fabric used is a beautiful 100% acrylic blue ticking stripe.

Here is a look at the underneath of the cushion which shows how the pet cover is constructed.  The cushion is placed inside the front nose of the pet cover and then an elastic strap holds the back of the pet cover in place.  Just slide the elastic over the cushion and slide the cushion out.  So nice and easy for frequent washings.

Here is a closeup of how the pet cover looks on the cushion.
Foxy loves toys so I made her a bone toy to match her new slipcover.

Linen-Look with Ruffles

I love white linen and ruffles so you know I had a lot of fun making these slipcovers. My customer has great taste and it is always a pleasure working with her. She chose a 100% cotton linen-look fabric. I love the look and feel of this fabric.
The chairs are swivel chairs.  Here you can see how the back looks.

You may remember these wing chair slipcovers I dubbed "King Wings" in a previous post.
They look beautiful at the ends of the dining table.

Pillow Back Sofa Slipcover

I just finished this beautiful pillow back sofa slipcover. This slipcover was done in a nice warm white denim.  I will definitely recommend this fabric to future customers.  It washed beautifully and was a pleasure to sew.

I am in love with my customers windows and her vignette behind the sofa on the sofa table.

This is a large Arhaus sofa which used close to 24 yds of fabric.  I ordered all new replacement down pillows for across the back of the sofa.
My customer just sent me this picture she took this afternoon with some added pillows.  I love the pillow back look.  She sent the pictures in this email

"Thank you so much, I'm loving my sofa again! I knew you were good, but this is awesome! I just can't stop looking at it! You really do wonderful work!

Thanks bunches,

Kari "

I love getting emails like this from my great customers!

Beautiful Brushed Canvas

My customer chose a beautiful brushed canvas for her new slipcovers. She also wanted to add a short kick pleat skirt.   The brushed canvas washes beautifully and has a cozy warm feel to it, kind of feels like a flannel shirt.
Before picture of chair.  Notice the back cushion was flattened over time.
Here is the after picture with the revived back cushion. I wrapped the back cushion with an extra layer of dacron to perk it up.

After picture of sofa and ottoman.  I revived these back cushions as well.  The center gold pillow is the fabric from the original upholstery.  The new fabric has a much softer look and feel. Love the new pillows my customer purchased at Crate and Barrel!

Amy Butler visits Stitch Cleveland

Stitch Cleveland, my favorite local fabric shop, was hosting a meet and greet with Amy and David Butler. I was so excited to meet Amy and David. I am a big fan of Amy's fabric and I love working with her beautiful fabrics on the office chair slipcovers. They make me so happy.
Stitch Cleveland looked very festive and inviting.

Heidi and Megan are the mother and daughter co-owners of Stitch Cleveland. Here they are having fun and looking cute.

Camel Back Sofa

I love the hump back shape of this sofa.   This slipcover was done in a white brushed denim and finished with a short skirt.

Before picture
We removed the existing skirt to show off the legs and give the sofa a lighter feel.

I am already starting to book jobs into October.  Please call soon if you would like new slipcovers before the holidays.

Also there are still linen slipcovers left over from the Chic Unique show.  They are available online through Chic Unique and will be available at the Summer Market in Avon, OH on July 27- 28.  You can also contact me if you are interested in any of the slipcovered linen parson chairs.
The Summer Market is a unique outdoor festival and benefit held in Avon Lake, Ohio, right on the shore of Lake Erie. Thousands of guests visit the Market each year to shop for furniture, jewelry, art, vintage items, fresh produce, home decor, and a variety of other goods from 55 vendors. Guests dine from three featured restaurants and listen to live music while watching the sun set or playing at the beach. It is a great event that should not be missed!

Office Chair slipcover mentioned in the International Amazon bestseller "Small Space Organizing"!

Book cover design by Baker Publishing Group.

Kathryn is pictured here in a Bookstar bookstore in San Diego.

My good friend and author Kathryn Bechen of Kathryn Bechen Ink Blog wrote a new best seller entitled: "Small Space Organizing" and much to my surprise she mentions the office chair slipcover I created for her awhile ago.  The blog post can be read here.  Her book was released January of this year and by May it was an Amazon "Top 100 Decorating Books" in the U.S. and in several other Amazon countries--France, Germany, Canada, etc. It's available in both paperback and ebook all over the world, on-line and off, and also in libraries across the U.S.

I was very excited when I discovered that she mentioned Cozy Cottage Slipcovers on page 49 as a resource and included a link to my website/blog.  I offered to make Kathryn two cushions for her outdoor patio as a thank you gift for including me in her book..  Here is the blog post where she talks about the new cushion covers "Zip Slips" as she calls them.

As I read her book, I have already found a lot of great solutions for organizing my small home.  She additionally offers great advice on her blog.  Be sure to add her to your blog roll.  My favorite advice is how to organize your fridge and freezer.  She uses white plastic containers from Target to organize vegetables, fruits, deli meats or whatever you like. This really helps in the freezer where things can get forgotten way in the back.

Thanks again Kathryn!!
