Linen Office Chair Slipcover

Lately, I have been creating a lot of office chair slipcovers for out-of-state customers. Here is a picture of one done in a beautiful linen fabric. She wanted a no frills slipcover with no skirt.

My customer painted the bottom of the chair white for a total transformation. I love the results!

This is a slipcovered chair that currently adorns her office. We used the same ruching (pleating) detail on the inside back of the office chair slipcover.

Chic Unique has moved!

My friend Carrin Andress owner of Chic Unique has relocated to downtown Elyria at 120 Middle Ave., Elyria, OH 44035. Carrin will open the store once a month for a big sale. Look at the crowd she had at her Grand Opening on November 20. She sold out in little over an hour.

Carrin had so many beautiful items. I love her displays and I must buy some mirror windows. I am hoping to finish some new slipcovered furniture for her next sale which will be on December 18. Finish your Christmas list with some unique items.

Striped Slipcover

Here is a picture of the latest slipcover I have finished. These stripes were asymmetrical and added an extra challenge. I have found that the trick for matching stripes is to make the cushions first and then let them determine the stripe placement for everything else. I am working on more slipcovers for this room and I will have more pictures to share.

Ruffles and more Ruffles

The always popular ruffles turned out great on my latest project! My client bought a matelasse coverlet/sham set then had me add the ruffles and a custom monogram. I loved the way it turned out.

She found this great footstool made of burlap and linen and wanted a ruffle added to that as well.

Closeup of footstool.

We finished off the bedding with two cute ruffled pillows, I have seen them in magazines and all over the internet. The pillows were so fun to make and complimented the decor. I can't wait to make more of these.

My client's daughter was so happy with her room that she wanted to write me her own check. I thought it was so cute. Here is a picture of the check. I can tell she really liked the ruffles. Look at all those zeroes!

Drop Cloth Office Chair Slipcover

Photo of Kathryn Bechen Ink home office taken by and copyright Kathryn Bechen, 2010.

I was very excited when I received an email from professional writer Kathryn Bechen of Kathryn Bechen Ink asking for an office chair slipcover. I had recently become friends with her on facebook after viewing her blog and website. She writes for one of my favorite magazines "Cottage Style".

Kathryn purchased a drop cloth at Home Depot and washed it several times. The fabric was very soft and had a great texture. She asked for an exact copy of a slipcover she currently had on the chair.

Here is the link to Kathryn's blog post where she shows her newly decorated home office.

Be sure to check out her website and blog. She has great style as well as great ideas for storage and organizing a small office space.

Quilted Slipcover

This slipcover was made from 3 full/queen sized quilts my customer purchased from Marshalls. Sewing the slipcover from quilts was easier than I originally thought. The quilted fabric stretched and conformed beautifully to the shape of the sofa. I pre-washed the quilts in HOT water and dried on a HOT setting. I recommended that the customer use a commercial size washing machine for future washings. Yet another sofa calling me to curl up with a book.

Here is the before picture of the sofa.

The after picture. I don't like photographing my slipcovers in the outdoors, however since my customer is in the middle of moving I was unable to place the slipcover on the sofa at her house.

The side view pictures show how well the quilted fabric conformed to the shape of the sofa.

Slipcovers with ties --Oh my!

The open arm chair slipcovers take more time but they are well worth the end result. These slipcovers are completely lined. I really like the way they turned out. My customer took these great photos for me.

This is a before and after picture of the back.

This picture below, inspired the look for these slipcovers. My customer especially liked the mini ruffle detail. However, I don't remember the website this picture was from. This chair is from Wisteria.

These dining chair slipcovers were done for the same customer. I love this look! White slipcovers are my favorite by far!!

Here is a picture of them in the customers house.

More fun with ticking!

Another beautiful slipcover done in a traditional ticking fabric. I love the look of one long sofa cushion. It is calling me to snuggle up. With the customers permission I ended up cutting the original back cushions and pillow covers off. It looked much softer after they were removed. I love it so much that I want to make a slipcover in this same fabric for my own sofa.

Many cute slipcovers are featured including my settee slipcover done in ticking over on the Pink and Polka Dot Blog.

Having fun with Ticking!

My customer found this great settee at a house sale in her neighborhood for a steal. I had a lot of fun making this slipcover. The fabric had a nice stretch to it and was a dream to work with. The fabric had a nice weight to it and did not have to be lined.

Here is a before picture.

Wow! What a difference with the new slipcover! I love the little knife pleats.

The arm was a little tricky to work with but I liked the challenge.

Stay tuned for more fun with ticking. The next slipcover I am working on will be done in another ticking fabric in almost the same colors.

Slipcovered Settee

Today, I enjoyed visiting my friends at Chic Unique in Chagrin Falls. What appeals to me about Chic Unique, is that Carrin keeps the store looking fresh with a constant display of new items. This ensures that you'll never visit the same store twice, and always want to come back for more.

I brought her an adorable settee fitted with a soft white denim slipcover. I posted lots of pictures. Enjoy!

Here is the front window display of Stash Style that faces Main Street.

This is the beautiful slipcovered settee I delivered today. Although Carrin was in the middle of rearranging her items, I managed to get some pictures with her help.

An artistic picture by my niece Cassandra. Well, all the pictures are taken by her.

Stash Style added a Yarn section in a cozy nook in the back of the store. I love the way she uses drawers on the wall to display the yarn.

This great shade was in the yarn section.
